Unplugged

We are starting a new project called "Unplugged". We are going to NOT use electonic devices ; T.V, radio, Ipod, cellphone, dvds, internet, games. But some are allowed for emergency. We are going to try Tech-free for 5days and see if we sucess on it!

Wikiality Group Project (E. Evaluation)

We have finished our project “Wikiality”. I have tried to follow the design specification written below.

1. Find inaccuracy what I am interested in
2. Not only correcting the error add other contents that the Wiki has missed3. Edit/add at least 3 contents in one site


I found inaccuracy in Wikipedia which I was interested in. I found about one Korean female celebrity, who has deceived her age. In online sites, her year of birth was 1982, but with some other researches her actual age was 1980. This was subject which I was interested in and while I was finding the inaccuracy, I wasn’t bored. For design specification, I said that I would not only correct error, but also add other contents that Wiki has missed. So I was thinking about adding a photo of the celeb and add the high school graduation year of her. This will fill up the design specification number 3. But for the photo, I could only update the photo I took by myself. We weren’t allowed to use internet photos. I and my partner couldn’t add as photo, and we didn’t add add the high school graduation year. I couldn't achieve all the goals in design specification, which I would like to change later even when the project is finished.

First we had to research about Wikipedia. It was my first time of actually research and gets to know about a certain server. I found out that Wiki was created and edited by Wiki users, which was a quiet surprising for me. The task was to find inaccuracy in Wiki, which had possibility to occur due to the contents which is created or edited by the Wiki users. The inaccuracy or incorrect information can be distributed. This could have a big impact on human. Me and my partner Eun Ju, has changed inaccuracy about Korean Celeb’s year of birth. After changing I have checked 2 times reentering the site, but no one had modified the change me and Eun Ju made.

When I started the project, it wasn't appealing to me. But as I did the project, I starting to think the project was quite enjoyable. When I made change in Wiki, I thought that i could be a person who distributes correct information to other people in the world. Also I learned, I shouldn't use the advantage of Wiki in a bad way(vandelising). The project thought me even a little thing can distribute real quickly and change the world.

Fence Building Field Trip

On the 12th of May, our class gr.10, went field trip to the Ger district. The purpose of the field trip was to build fence, which was related to our previous technology project called "Enclosure vs, Exposure". We head to the place and we ate lunch on the way. On our way, Mrs. Griffith was with us and explained to us about the place we are visiting and what we are going to do. We arrived in the Ger district and looked around the community center 'Flourishing Futures'. We saw little kids having a class. After, we walked to other places near. We saw Winky dink travel agency owned by Mrs. Griffith and the places where some families live whom Mrs. Griffith knows. Mrs. Griffith talked about fund raising dinner held in Hong Kong and the amount of money that was contributed to her community center. She was touched when she talked about it.
After visiting certain places where Mrs. Griffith showed us, we went to build the fence. There was a land and we had to dig a hole for the pole(for fence) and dig mounds of dirts for toilet. I've dug for a hole for the pole. When we saw the hole, it wasn't really dug up. When we dug and we have placed a pole inside. In the hole, my whole arm fit. We put the pole and finished up with putting small rocks in first, than bigger rocks as it fills up. We used a long piece of metal stick to finish up. When I finished up with the hole for pole, I went to help to dig the toilet. I used shovel for this. It wasn't easy as I thought and it required labor. For me, it was hard to handle the shovel. Anyway I had fun digging with the shovel. The place dug up for toilet was reaching my shoulder. We have dug a lot.
Before I came to build the fence, I thought what can a small group change. But when we actually dug a hole and place for toilet with effort, I realized we can make a change or we can actually do something that helps. I was proud of myself and it was fun field trip missing some school lessons! kkk

Wikipedia Responsibility Agreement signed!
Correction Done!

Me and my partner found inaccuracy about korea female celeb. The birth year of Han ye-seul was wrong. Me and my partner Eun Ju have researched about and found the right information. After signing wikipedia responsibility agreement, we went into Wiki. We logged in and we edited. I pressed the button "edit", and changed the year of the celeb's birth. Then we added her present age. But, there was an error. In the profile of han ye seul, we shouldn't have added her present age. The present age of her was calculated itself and appeared. So the first time of editing there was an error. So we changed again by erasing writing the present age of her. When we checked it later, her present age was there by Wiki's own calculation. Then we decided to add photo. We looke for her photo in googl image, but we found out that the photo can be updated with the photo I've taken myself. So, I couldn't update the photo. With little clicks and typing, I changed one person's profile, which some people will research about her and notice the change I made. I've checke twice, but no one has changed it. It was really easy to edit.

The part highlighted in color red is the part I am going to correct. I am going to edit 1982 to 1920 and the age 26 to 27. I am going to write the year she graduated in Cerritos High School, which is not added in Wiki and also add her photo.
